WANTED.. M. Major engine bearings ...

Post by tjt77 »

I'm trying to find seat of new old stock main bearings in std size for a majestic major 4 1/2 litre V8 .. oversize bearings will work if needs be ..I'll get the crank turned to suit, but trying to keep it simple for now ..the current mains shells are starting to reveal the copper backing, but crank is fine. surely SOMEONE must have an old set they are never going to use?
I can use con rod bearings as well .. direct email is beats as i rarely access this site :- tim.trevithick@yahoo.com
thank you in anticipation, tim.

Further to my previous post. I was talking to Ray a few days ago and he believed original bearings were no longer available and that they would have to be white metalled.

David Beales lists mains and big end bearings for the MM on his ebay shop. They are made to order at a cost of £340 however (£260 for the big ends).

Google Gosnays Engineering Romford and give them a try. They have a house full of old engine parts. The house is now used as the stores for their workshop. You may be lucky. (Sorry I haven't learned how to copy and paste on a tablet)

thank you to all those who have posted replies.. as of yet i have not followed up due to other ongoing projects.. if it comes to the crunch I willet them from D Manners.. I do racal euyars ago they were hard to come by, hence I checked a vandervell catalogue and made up a set of mains out of 2 sets that were listed for a perkins diesel ..had to narrow some of them to fit..

Do Manners do engine spares for the 4.5? I think when I tried them very early in my DQ ownership, they only sold bits for the 2.5
