Update :- Gosnays say that have bearings that are correct in both inner and outer diameter, but need to be narrowed to fit.. I believe that is the route I took on last MM engine I refreshed back in late 70s..

further update.. the bearings that Gosnays carry that require narrowing to fit are 'bi-metal' bearings ( tin alloy) as opposed to 'tri metal' of the original vandervell product . given the high loads on these bearings I suspect they will be fine on mains, but likely one requires tri metal for the con rods .. the cost difference is significant for main bearings.. approx 1/3 of the price for the ones ( basically 2 sets, some of which are discarded) requiring modification V the 'made to order' ready to fit bearings form D Beales.. given I'm on a 'freshen up' rather than full rebuild i will likely go with those supplied by Gosnays, depending on final inspection of crank, after old bearings are removed..

Gosnays are pretty good. Not cheap, but having been in and out of there for something over 30 years I have never heard a complaint about what they do. Good to know they came up with something for you.
