Hello everyone,
Again regarding my 1937 15 - I just pulled my steering side rod, apart and the two springs, part number 276768 are crunched and broken beyond repair and one of the distance tubes is missing. The rod should be fairly easy to replace but the spring is a bit more of a challenge. I have found a company in New Zealand called Spring Specialists Limited, who seem to offer all sorts. Has anyone delt with them before or know of someone closer than the South Pacific, or indeed have an even better solution?
Best wishes Rob.

Re: Springs and where to find them.
Hi Rob,
I have had springs made to sample by a firm in Redditch over here in the U.K. - so I'll sort out their address - or if you get stuck I can go and see them for you have a pattern.
Stan.

Hello Stan, that is most uncommonly decent of you sir.
One of the springs is in 5 pieces, but the other is only broken in half so would make a good patten.
If you could find an address or at least a name, the Internet would probably make contacting them fairly easy, it is about the only way for me stuck in Gibraltar.
Kind regards and best wishes Rob Davies.

Hello Stan,
I was wondering if you had found the name of the spring company in Redditch, it would be great to get in touch with them, best wishes Rob.

Re: Springs and where to find them.
Hi Bob,
The spring manufacturer I have in mind is:
Springpart Manufacturing Limited.
Unit 50-51 Heming Road,
Washford Industrial Estate,
Redditch,
Worcestershire. B98 0EA.
Tel: 0044 (0) 1527 527302.
If you can wait until the start of the new year I will give them a ring to check things out to save you ringing from abroad as they are not that far from me - and then come straight back to you.
Regards,
Stan.

Hi Stan,
That's great, waiting is no problem as I'm just taking things easy as the family are around, back to business in the new year.
All the very best, Rob.

Re: Springs and where to find them.
Hi Rob,
The firm whos address I gave you no longer do "one-off" springs, but having scouted around I've found another company in Redditch. However, their charges for a "one-off" to pattern are £45 + Vat (if that would be applicable) which in comparison with an off-the-shelf spring would cost, I suggest you first try around for a spring which could be adapted or whatever.
However, I do have two more companies I can try (but are presumably still on Christmas shut-down).
Email me direct if you wish at: sleevevalve@mail.com

Re: Springs and where to find them.
I'm not familiar with your car but I assume the parts referred to are coil springs of some type? There are a number of UK manufacturers that offer a wide range of stock springs. Two of these are Lee Spring Ltd and Flexo Springs Ltd.
If you can calculate the size and rate from the remains you have you may find a stock item that will do the job.

Thank you both for outstanding help, thanks to the contacts you've given me I should be able to tick this tricky item off my to do list.
Very kind of you both to take the time and trouble to help out, best wishes Rob.
