bsf 1/4 x 3inch cs screw

Post by Db n j »

Need 4off 1/4bsf cs screws (any material), must be 3 inch long.

Had a trawl through e-bay but didn't find anything useful.

Thanks

I've looked up about 10 of the usual suspects for this sort of thing. They mostly seem to be out of stock or stop at 2". This lot might be worth a try:

I know you want them countersunk, but if you had a lathe, or a friend with a lathe, these could have the head turned down as they are the length but not the head :

Alternatively, again probably needing a lathe, Namrick sell 1/4" BSF studding at £2.20 for a foot length and I'm imagining how a countersunk head might be made and fitted from either a nut or a bit of bar. Of course, the right thing would be the best but sometimes finding BSF sizes longer than 1" is awkward now. There might have been other possibilities depending on what they're for and what loads might be on them. Hopefully someone will have a few knocking about but these are just some ideas to start things off.

Simon,

Thanks for the reply.

The application is to hold the trim panel for the B Post - it is not a part that needs
a specific head type etc - a cap-head or machine screw would fit ( the hole wont allow a bolt)

The screws are reached from the outside of the car, behind the trafficator trim panel, and pull the
wooden trim panel into the B-post. The wooden trim panel has a captive nut plate on the inside to
attach to the screw.

Stud might be a last resort.

I'll check the sites mentioned, and have a phone around on Monday.
