Does anybody know where I can find the bleed nipples for the Century Wheel cylinders?
As per Parts List 135097/6 Wheel Cylinder Bleeder Screw 377685W

Thanks in advance :)

There is only one for each wheel.

On the reverse side of the brake backplate you'll see the flexible hose coming from the master cylinder which goes into one of the brake cylinders - then a metal pipe coming out and going to the other brake cylinder, the outlet of which is fitted with the bleed nipple is fitted.

The bleed nipple for each front wheel is at the front at about the "three-o-clock" position.

Right thanks Stan but what I really meant is does anybody know the size and where I can buy them!

I'm guessing they are 3/8" BSF 20tpi but I cant be sure.
I am sure they will break as soon as anybody tries to get them out and so need new cylinders but I thought I'd get them just to tempt luck!

G'day Graham

I purchased my new bleed nipples from David Beales - a slow process but they did eventually arrive.

Cheers
Michael

Hi Graham,

I have found a couple of old bleed nipples. They have slightly damaged rounded shoulders so probably aren't what you need. But you are welcome to them. Let me know.

For your information, they are 3/8 UNF thread.

As I am sure you are aware, the seal for the nipples is actually a small ball bearing that seals in the coned recess of the slave cylinder. The bleed nipple just tightens the ball into the cone and therefore doesn't need much torque. If anyone knows the diameter of the ball bearing, I would be interested to know.

Hope this helps.

do away with the ball and replace with the newer type with the tapered end

Henry - no I didn’t know!
I’m reluctant to attempt to remove them without having better ones to hand.
I’m scared they’ll break off in any case which means new slave cylinders.

Hi Graham,

Would you like me to send you the secondhand bleed nipples?
