Hello Graham,

Do you think soaking the nipples with Plus Gas (NOT WD40 !!) and leaving them for a few hours / overnight may help ??

I have often found this does work and gentle moving back & forth with the addition of extra Plus Gas applied.

With regard to replacement nipples, Namrick (Nut & Bolt Store) in East Sussex do a decent range in brass and cover your UNF size. I use them a lot being only twenty minutes away, they are spot-on and very helpful. I have attached their bleed nipple page FYI.

Good luck.

Richard.

Thanks Richard

Plus Gas! Yes but I can’t find it locally. Everybody wants to sell me WD40 which is not a penetrating oil. When I tell people this I just get a blank stare as if I’m from Mars.
I will ask Henry to send me his spares and then use them for a pattern to get more from Namrick. I’ve used them quite often, they are cheap in bulk but expensive for small quantities- but there again who isn’t?

Thank you

Hello Graham,

Yes I know what you mean about everybody believing that WD40 is the answer to all problems - sadly not, when it comes to penetrative rust breaking duties !!

I will be popping in to Namrick next week, so I could pick those nipples up for you and post - it would save their hefty postage; just a thought and happy to assist if necessary.

Regards.

No problem Graham, let me know which length of the 3/8" UNF you require.

I will probably pop in on either Monday or Wednesday next week.

Just going back to Plusgas for a moment, does anyone know what all the different reference numbers mean? eg 801-10, 802-10, 803-10?
