Hi Chaps, as some of you may have read on th Lanchester forum page, I am looking to purchase an SU HV Carburettor , possibly as fitted to the “ Late” model Lanchester LA 10, that was fitted with the 1444cc Engine.
If any of you Chaps out there are able to help, then please do get in touch with me, either on here, of you may phone me on:

This chap has a couple of SUs for sale. The bodies look about right but there may be finer differences which rule them out.

Hi Mike, many thanks for that, I did look at this one earlier today, unfortunately the Flange is the wrong way round, the Spindle is badly damaged, and it looks to be in a poor condition, but many thanks anyway 😀😀

Best wishes Al

Al
Did you realise he had 2 for sale, one with the flange holes vertical, the other with the holes horizontal?

And another seller has one here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIUMPH-RILE ... rk:42:pf:0

Im unfamiliar with which actual model SU is used in your application.. but H= horizontal and 2 = 1 1/4" .. earlier small bore (under 1 1/2") SUs had the 2 mount holes horizontal.. later models were vertical.. there was at one time 'adaptor plates' so that one could interchange between the 2 styles of mount.. and its relatively easy to fabricate one..the main difference in SU designs relates to how the choke operates.. and as time passed was improved to provide smooth choke operation and cure possibility of leaks..early versions uses cork seals etc.. which are prone to a number of 'issues'.. Id suggest for reliable and lower maintenance application, you could go with a later style 1 1/2" SU, the least problematic of which would be the 'HS2'.the float chamber of which can be swiveled to fit either horizontal or semi downdraft applications...as with the H2 it has vertical mount holes.. this is common on Morris minor post '59 till '71.. morris oxford and austin cambridge..from '59-71 etc etc if you use needle and damper spring for a 1500cc BMC engine, (morris oxford/A55 '59-mid '61)your jetting will be close enough to work well... generally these change hands at anywhere between 15 and 75 ukp.. rebuild kits are relatively inexpensive.. and oversize throttle shafts are readily available if it has wear.. good luck..
