WANTED: V8-250 BW35 BELL HOUSING

Post by classiclife » Sat Feb 16, 2019 11:20 am

Hello,

An unusual request, perhaps.

I am looking for a V8-250 saloon BW35 bell housing to use for a project with a Daimler, please.

It will be used for a transmission upgrade and as such must be free from damage.

If anybody has one, I will be very grateful to hear from you.

Thank you very much.

Regards.

Richard.

Out of interest which transmission are you planning on using?
I recently machined an adaptor plate for a friend who is hoping to use a Volvo 4 speed automatic transmission.

Barry Thorne had some blanks for machining. I don’t know if he has any left but it may be an option.
Colin,
I may be slow but I’m rough as well !

Richard

Been looking for some time, but If I can get hold of an Alloy BW35 bell housing, you're welcome to my cast iron version it's too heavy for my application.

Thanks to Marcel my project is nearly there parts wise, having a torque converter made this week to marry up the Volvo box to the torque curve of the V8.
The jigsaw will then be complete.
My 250 will then have 4 speeds ,lock up in top and retain the column shift.
Looking at completion in the next couple of months in time for the show season.

Regards
Stu

Folks,

Thanks for your responses.

Marcel - I am fitting a ZF4 HP22 from a Jaguar.

Colin - I presume that is adaptor plate blanks rather than bell housing ?? !!

Stu - Many thanks, keep me posted: I intend to carry out the conversion next Winter.

Regards.

Richard.
Aluminium bell housing blanks that require machining NOT adaptor plates.

Spoke with Barry, he is certain all are gone.

If he has stock left he will give me a buzz, albeit I am not hopeful as it's not the sort of item that gets tucked at the back of a shelf and you forget !!

Very nice chap and very helpful.

Thanks for the heads-up, Colin, once again.

Quick update,

Barry is unable to assist he only has 1x manual alloy box remaining.

I sent him a number of photos comparing a manual & auto bell housing to assess; hence his response.

The search continues.
