They are a Lucas part and were on many a car of that era. Model 476.

Hi, I take it this is for a consort ?
From memory,,,
Whilst they look similar to many cars of the era, they are specific to consort and I think austin sheerline. (They have a single piece of glass, whereas others have either a front glass and a side glass to illuminate the number plate).

Try Derek sleigh.

Taking a look at the photos should the lights be the 2 pieces of glass ones used on the earlier DB18 but with part of the frame cut away or the single glass one used on the Consort.
A search on ebay for Lucas D lamps hopefully will solve your problem.
There are both types of light or glass currently listed.

If it is Consort they are definitely Lucas 476. Rare as rocking horse poo. They do come up on e bay from time to time. I think there is one on there at the moment. If the car is still wired to original spec there are 2 different lenses. Right hand is all red, brake light and tail light. Left hand red and clear, reverse and tail light. A lot get changed so that they have 2 brake lights.

Nick, yes your detail is correct.

Not as rare as you think,,,

Derek has current new glass either type, and one complete new unit red and clear.

Thank you all for your help and advice, Marcel, I think I put you off the scent, the lenses pictured are what I bought thinking they were correct to replace the lenses fitted to my car by the previous owner which were made from painted plastic milk cartons !

On Nicks 476 advice I scoured the internet and bought of a pair NOS lenses which are currently on route from Belgium, I will update the thread on their arrival.

Out of interest, looking on other forums, the L476 lights appear to have an alternative part number of 572442

Thanks again

If I understand the Lucas system correctly 476 is the model number and 572442 is the part number.

David, you'll find the Lucas catalogue on DB18.org to help you identify the parts

The very best service by the seller In Belgium, ordered on Friday, £61 the pair including postage, fitted to the car this afternoon! Unbelievable.

Thanks again all for your help in identifying the correct lenses
