Door- hinge pins 1/4 inch

Post by Db n j »

I have removed the passenger door of our Special Sports to make a repair as per the timely publication in the last Driving Member ( thanks Kevin).

The hinges are not too bad, but I wondered if new pins were available ?

1/4 diameter by 3 1/4 long.

Any ideas ??

These would be fairly easy to turn up on a metal work lathe, problem with nails is they rust very readily and are very soft steel, so a better quality steel even stainless would be preferable. Syd

I don't know if its of interest but I purchased some hinge pins for vintage chevy that were a little oversized 17/64" [.265"] x ~3.5" and they were inexpensive. If you would consider that option I'll try and dig up the part number.

Thanks guys.

Dennis - a reference would be good, even if they have to get for the US

Alan - Ill have a look.

(its not desparate, but I'd like to try to make as good as possible)

I have a spare set of hinges, but they are bigger sizes and because of the location, I cant swap to get the best ones in service !
(nothing easy in the old car world)
