Hi
I do have manifolds - one has been repaired - brazed by Russ Carpenter some time ago and one which does need repair - If interested send me a note - my email csm1406@aol.com or via this forum. New would probably be better for you if they are available.

Rgds !

Hi
I had Stainless steel pipe manifolds and exhaust made for Margaret's SP by a firm in Nottinghamshire. If you are interested I can look out the details.

Thanks Colin, I've tried a couple but perhaps worth following up on a recommendation, so if it's not too much trouble to dig it out, the info would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reference Colin; another Scottish SP owner had stainless 4:1 original style manifolds made by SES a few years ago and there was a problem with his when first received also, which I believe has been resolved successfully.

I had asked SES to make 4:2:1 tubular manifolds for me, in 1999. I thought that if I was going to choose stainless I might as well go the whole way. Fortunately they were making a complete system for another customer at the time and by arrangement used her car as the pattern for the new manifolds (my car already had a stainless system from another manufacturer). The result was a perfect fit when received, and they have remained on the car ever since without trouble, which goes for the rest of the system too.

Each side comprises two downpipes, an inner exhaust port 2:1 Y pipe and an outer port 2:1 pipe which mate with a horizontal Y connector intermediate pipe connecting to the balance pipe, as shown in the photos above. Each intermediate pipe has a short flexible section.

The reason for having new manifolds made was because one of the originals had developed a crack a few years before and the Manners replacement was a much heavier and uglier casting. After a few more years with it I was unhappy about having to replace the other side with another of those. The originals are a much more attractive but fragile casting unfortunately.

Geoff

I had a stainless exhaust manifold made for my Espace some years ago. It was made by a guy who did specials somewhere near Newark. He used new gaskets for the hole positions etc and the manifold for shape. From memory it cost £250 and was a work of art. As Mary Poppins would say,"perfect in every way". If you are interested I will did out the details

Thanks for the info and assistance Gents.

SES are currently charging £1,053.00 for a pair of 4:2:1 Manifolds, with something over 6 weeks of a Lead Time.

At the moment, I'm contemplating new Cast Manifolds from Barry Thorne and reverting to the original arrangement. (I've currently got Mild Steel 4 Branch units, which have seen better days).

If the info you have is Handy John, I could try them also, there may be a chance of improving on SES' price and delivery thanks.
