John,
No pop up box appears. I only get the url/brackets which I can then copy and paste the address by typing in the middle of the brackets. I am beginning to think that it may be something to do with the set up I have on my iPad. The AC forum is the same but the VSCC does drop a box, asks for text then a box drops after that asks for the address.
Colin,
I may be slow but I’m rough as well !

Oh dear. That happens on an iPhone too. You can do it by typing (ignore the Code: Select All)

Code: Select all

[url=http://www.your-link.com]Your descriptive text[/url]
just remember that inside the first URL tag you put an = sign and the link starting with http:// then the first ] closing bracket, then the text description after the first ] and then the URL closing tag inside square brackets.

I think you are probably typing the words you want to represent the website before clicking on the hyperlink icon.

For example, if you want to link to the Daimler SP250 Owners Clubsite, select Daimler SP250 Owners Club, click on the hyperlink symbol and you get this [url.] Daimler SP250 Owners Club[/url]

(I've entered a full stop after url in the first bracketed box to avoid an automatic linking - disregard the full stop)

Enter the = symbol after url in the first box followed by the url of the site you want to link and you get this [url.=http://www.daimlersp250dartownersclub.com/forum/]Daimler SP250 Owners Club[/url].

Disregarding the full stop in the first url box and this is how the link will appear in your post Daimler SP250 Owners Club

Maybe this helps?

Sorry, just read John's reply and this post just repeats his explanation.
