I was bidding on a part for one of my vehicles and a friend sent me a mail asking if I had seen the part. I replied that not only had I seen it I was bidding. Now he knows my ebay name yet he couldn't see it. He asked what time I had placed my last bid and on being informed checked again only to find that while there had been a bid at that time X***X had placed that bid.
We could only assume that ebay, in an effort to provide anonymity just uses a letter, two asterixes and then another letter. Would we be correct. While the computer is working what would be the correct plural of asterix? I thought it might be asterices as index is indeces. Or maybe not!
