Ebay £1 selling fee days

Post by New Dexter »

I must admit to be somewhat puzzled. I "accepted the £1 selling fees offer several times. Listed items and as usual not all of them sold. I did not re-list. I waited for the £1 offer to return, listed many items again and noticed that at the bottom of the listing page, in very small print, "you will be charged a final value fee" and this would be related to the sale price.
Was this because I was listing the same items again but on a new listing, not a re-list? The £1 days are back this weekend and I have many things I would like to list but when one spends time and effort doing so, only to see the warning that the fee won't just be £1, it's rather irritating

Hello,

If you place items as BIN in the £1 max fee and they do not sell, then eBay will automatically list them again, if this occurs then you fall foul of their T&C's and you will be subject to fees.

If you place items as auction in the £1 max fee then eBay cannot list them automatically. You have to manually relist and that is the way to ensure you are eligible for the offer.

As such, I would suggest listing items for £10 or less as BIN and let eBay automatically list them for you, as the max you pay can only ever be £1 and any items that you are placing on eBay for over £10 then use the auction system.

If those items sell then you will only be charged £1 when you sign up for the offer; if not sold you can then list them again for auction when the £1 offer comes.

This is what I do and I've never had an issue. You just need to be aware BIN items if under £10 and auction items if £10 or more via the eBay £1 offer.

One final point and just my personal preference, do not bother with Reserves - it is a pointless exercise. If you place a Reserve of £100 on an item then obviously you are not prepared to sell for under that. Therefore place the opening bid at £100 and save yourself unnecessary eBay fees, plus buyers know where you stand on your selling item.

Good luck.

Regards.

Richard.
