The big split

Post by JDB »

Interesting to see sp250/450 and v8 has it's own section for threads now; is this the area to post things relevant to DQ and DR 450s, or are they still part of the wider Daimler world?
Cheers JB

The new forum is intended only for SP250s, SP450s and the saloon with the SP250 V8 engine.

Older cars and newer Jaguar cars should be in the original Daimler forum.

If you are just browsing, it's useful to click Active Topics, top right of a page, which will show all recent posts regardless of the forum they are posted in.

Thanks for the reply.
Just to satisfy my curiosity, why include the 250 v8 but not the 450 v8 DQ and DR?

Well, you have to stop somewhere when splitting forums. As it happens the split is roughly 50:50 at the moment which stops one forum having too many topics compared to others. The discussion several months ago was about separating only the SP250, but the V8-250 saloon has nearly the same V8 engine so questions about the SP250 also apply to that.

The logic is to get cars with the same body (SP250 and SP450) and the same V8 engine (SP250 and V8-250 saloon) in the same forum so that reading topics about one car will apply to another.

The Majestic Major DQ450 and DR450 with a 4.5 litre engine are a bit too different.

Sounds logical enough, cheers.

I don't agree with splits. There are already enough splits as it is. The SP250 lot have their own club, do their own calendar and other things, it's already too much "them" and "the others". It's either a Daimler or not. Should be kept together.

Chris, different to the old forum, the Dart posts outnumber the others on here so it seems only right to separate, so Dart / V8 people to their own and us with the older cars go to ours. Just housekeeping.

No need to worry unduly, Chris, the EU will be banning fibreglass cars very soon, no doubt, in the interests of 'elf and safety......................

The Forum has been split by the the fact we have a New Forum and a almost impossible to reach Old Forum, and a great loss of input from those that have left with the Old Forum closing.
Even those of us who have come to the "New" post less now then we did, so why we need more sections is a mystery.

Best someone tell the BSA boy's there's a section for them .

My only reply to that is the amount of BSA postings is non existent compared to the SP250 and V8s so obviously the most popular postings get more prominence. I still feel people feel the old forum should have been left but for fear of repeating self it was impossible to keep alive and had to go.
I hope people note the hacking and spam is gone on this site which was the main thing that blighted the old forum.
