Number punch set

Post by New Dexter »

I need to buy a number punch set, 10mm (3/8"), figures. I have done the usual hunting about and there is a wide range of prices. Rolson can supply number and letter sets for under £20 but buying the same items from suppliers of BGS (a German make) requires two separate sets and together they cost £47.98 with free post.
I am very aware that there are great differences in quality and it's often to buy best, buy once which is my version of a quote I might have heard.
Does anyone have any recommendations please?

Hello

BGS makes very high quality tools, all my Withworth (BSW) scockets and spanners are BGS, because FACOM doesn't make any BSW tool.

Depends what material you are stamping and how often. Hard material and cheap stamps won't last long.
I too believe in the adage "buy it cheap, buy it twice".
If you are only likely to use them twice a year get the cheap ones.
I have a set of Rolson gasket punches that get infrequent use, still perfectly adequate for the for what I need.

Thank you gentlemen.
I think I will be ordering a set of the BGS ones as I would rather have a set that could be relied upon.
