I thought you were supposed to have yellow headlamp bulbs when touring on the continent in those days, especially in France where my Dad's car was flashed all the time. He had painted the bulbs with a yellow paint, but they obviously still looked white to another motorist.

There's no evidence of yellow bulbs in the photos above.

My Dad's car was also hoisted on board a ship with a separate net for each wheel. I remember wondering if the wheels would be pulled outwards as the car was heavy with luggage.

Looks like a difficult route, is the engine side panel off!
