The Historic Monte-Carlo Rally gets away from Glasgow today (29th January 2020) with a Daimler Conquest competing.
See http://www.retro-speed.co.uk/showfeature.asp?art=27545 for more details.
Peter Baker has been getting his car ready over the last few months, it is a DJ250 and was on the cover of the Driving Member recently.
Note the Halda Speedpilot fitted to the dash.

Does the rally go through The Alps? There was a good snowfall there recently. I hope he took snow chains or the modern equivalent or studded tyres.

I remember a cartoon many years ago of a Mini which had skis on the roof. It overturned and continued on the skis! :D

Those headlights look brighter than old ones. I hope he's got an alternator instead of a dynamo as the fog lights will probably be needed too.

I did a brief scan of Daimler Days Vol 2 and there were few references to the Conquest in the Monte, however there was a reference to a Consort taking part in 1951 - it finished and won a prize.

I’m thinking of entering next year in the DB18..... have to get the heater fixed and some stone guards for my headlamps 😃
