Rival for SP250 design approval
Rival for SP250 design approval
Perhaps this 1958 Plymouth Tornado is why the SP250 never found favour in USA They didn't want a subdued British design, they wanted something outrageous although I don't think this ever went into production.

My first thought on the top pictures was that it could take the prize for the ugliest car ever made!

Re: Rival for SP250 design approval
Well, the Tornado was made in 1958 and the Dart got famous for being one of the ugliest cars in USA in 1959:
Wikipedia "The SP250 was launched as the Daimler Dart in April 1959 at the New York Motor Show, where it was unofficially voted as the ugliest car at the show."
so the Tornado must have been liked in USA

I think it was used by Lady Penelope when Parker was washing the Rolls
