Morning, Chaps, well I tried the " Wood & Sledge Hammer" method, and only succeeded in shattering the wood, without even slightly moving either Piston ! ! .
Time to get angry so I found a suitable piece of thick plate, and a nice longish piece of Bronze Bar, and then gave the "Buggers" what for.
Even then, it still took some time to persuade them to give in, once removed, I used my faithful home made Honing tool( A piece of circa 3X3 wood) that had been shaped to fit the Bore, but with a "Flat" on either side with a home made spindle fitted. and a suitable piece of "Wet & Dry" paper secured with some Drawing Pins, and the proceeded to "Hone" the Bores, using my electric Drill.
Surprise, surprise, they cleaned up remarkably well! , which is more than I can say for the Pistons( I'll take some piccys later)
So now what to do now I ask?? Thought about asking, if any of you out there had a good set of " used + 0.20" Pistons as the Bores look very good as do the Big End & Mains, I could then rebuild the Engine and store it .
What does the team think?
More later.....
Cheers A'l

Re: Seized Piston Removal
Get the block thoroughly cleaned and then painted silver-grey, add some short legs at the bottom, a sheet of plate glass on the top and turn it into a coffee table and put it in the lounge! Maybe use the pistons upside down as the legs and weld or bolt them to the block.

Re: Seized Piston Removal
Hi, well, I managed to Drill out all 6 broken off Studs and re-tap the 3/8 BSF threads successfully, so now need to get some replacement Studs turned up, to finish the job off.

Re: Seized Piston Removal
I have this issue with sleeve valve motors , I tried every thing soaking in diesel for months , I tired shaking it - burnt out two orbital sanders, a bankable quantity of money on specialised liquids etc
the way I succeeded was to place ice into the bore - froze some plastic bottles, placed ice inside the piston and let sit for 15 minutes and placed twin 500 watt heat lamps on each side of the motor - most successful and on more than one occasion,
cheers
Shane
