Modern Classics
Re: Modern Classics
Does a 1995 Classic Range Rover count? It has a Classic badge on the back
Re: Modern Classics
Where have the rotary-engined Wankels gone? They would be modern classic cars.
My boss had one in 1971. I haven't seen one since.

Re: Modern Classics
Mazda continued to make them up until 2012 but they couldn't get them up to the latest emissions standards.

Re: Modern Classics
I'm a big fan of the rotary engines but unfortunately their fuel economy ensured their demise. I think Brian Chrighton of Norton did as much as Mazda to develop a fast and reliable engine. I used to enjoy watching the Nortons trounce all the Japanese opposition on the track back in the 80s and 90s including the IOM TT Senior. In fact Chrighton is still working on the rotary engine and has developed a new engine which purports to address the emission issue and the rotor tip sealing.

Re: Modern Classics
As"Norfolk Lad" says any club with more than fifteen members qualifies their cars as being classics - I'd like to hear from another fourteen people who own a Morris Marina.

Aaah the Morris Marina, a much maligned car! I loved my 1.8 coupe, very reliable, good fun and served me well for years.

Re: Modern Classics
Hi, Chaps, well below are some pictures of my MG ZS 120 “Atomix” purchased by me new in 2003, I keep this car in”almost” the same condition as my Lanchester.
These are now getting quite rare, so hopefully may qualify to be accepted a future classic , what does the “ Team” think ?.
Cheers A’l

Thinking back a couple of years??? I used to own a 1977 Morris Marina 1-8 Estate finished in Tahaiti Blue , Reg no TYA 791 R , wonder if it still exists, it was a great car and proved to be extremely reliable!!
