Fun and Games......................

On the way to (and back from!) the post office today, the old girl was farting and popping like a good 'un.

Ah, timing has slipped, thinks I.

5 minute job............................er......................

Vernier control seized solid. Points gap 0.0000001 inch...........................

Out with the dizzy. Clamp seized also and rotor "Dry'z a bone". This had caused wear on the contact heel and hence the narrow (almost non existent) gap.

Anyway, clamp and vernier freed off with Plus Gas, rotor lubricated with semi - liquid grease, points re - set to 15 thou, dizzy reinstalled and re - timed.

Runs like a burglar now. (swift and silent)

5 minute job took an hour and a half......................

So interested with the bodywork I completely ignored the most basic mechanical things! Tomorrow the carburettor and a new set of plugs!!

Get those spanners from Halfords! They make the impossible almost possible :D

Andrew

Do you mean those ratchet spanners with the adjustable angle ring end? Yes, the impossible (almost) possible and the possible easy and even fast. Amazing!

Yes Geoff the angled metric ring spanners. I do rate a lot of Halford's tools and they are guaranteed for life. I couldn't see any other way to attach and tighten up the Conquest manifold nuts without them although obviously it has been accomplished before.
