Removing white metal.

Post by Stan Thomas »

Can anyone with industrial chemical or metalurgical knowledge advise me please:

How can I remove the white metal coating from the sleeves of a sleeve-valve engine, such as by applying an acid or chemical solution or by "reversed" electro-plating - as heating them to melt off the deposit will distort the sleeves.

Any advisers will be given a ride in the car (bring your own oil).

Stan.
