Sherborne School Rotary Club's Rally.
I hadn't booked so I wasn't sure whether to arrive early at 10am and get in before the rally cars left or come at 2pm when the rally cars would have returned and more visitors would have come. I know that it gets very crowded in the afternoon and I would probably get boxed in, and anyway I had something else to do in the afternoon so I left at lunchtime. If you came in the afternoon, Alan, I'm sorry I missed you. Alan won a prize for his LA11 last year and his car is probably even better this year. I hope he went there after I left.

The blue sports car is a Tornado fibreglass special.

My favourite Lancia, a Flaminia 3C 2.8 Zagato about 1963

I agree about the Lancia - a beautiful car. It was first registered 1st Jan 62.
If only Daimler had had the imagination to fit the SP250 with a smart Italian suit I wonder where the marque would be today.
The nearest it got was that awful Hooper body.
In 1965 Jensen went shopping in Italy and came back with the Interceptor!

Which I have never liked. I was visiting a pub in about 1969 when I saw a car with taped up lettering , but the seat belts said Jensen. It must have been a pre-production model on a test drive.

Generally the Italians knew how to style the back of a car, whereas Jensen, Daimler SP250 and other British cars often have ugly rears. The Flaminia gets it right.

Hi John, yes I did enter , no prize this year ,which was hardly surprising, as the judges just walked by not even bothering to stop , Ho- Hum .
Probably because I won 1st in the Masters Class last year, and they decided that they would share the pries round a bit 😂😂
Perhaps I should try a different event next year 😂😂😂

Cheers Al 😊😊

I would go again next year Al and wave at the judges as they walk past, asking if it's your turn to win again

Regards.

Richard.

The judges probably read the articles about the carburetor and that it wasn't the same as original so went on by!!!
Only 99.9 out of 100.
