Seems to be breaking a Conquest or two judging by the other Items he has for sale.

I've taken delivery of this today, it has taken National Pallets 3 tries to get to my gates, ?? weather related probs. Got for £50.00 plus pallet carriage, but probably worth it.

My reason for purchase? It has a Conquest/Century aluminium rocker cover; I've only ever seen one of these in 60 years of DJ ownership, on an early roadster, and all of a sudden two are advertised by the same garage in Nuneaton, the other one on the Century engine and chassis advertised at the same time. Incidentally that chassis had actual Century torque arms too, also very rare. But the Century chassis/engine was already sold by the time I contacted the vendor.

I wonder what the history of this engine is and just how common Conquest alloy rocker covers are, or not.

Any thoughts on the latter anyone? I think that a Hooper bodied Daimler should have a polished rocker cover at the very least. Not to fit one was a gross omission.

Fortunately it appears to have no major damage, but now I have some serious polishing to do. I'll remove the tropical air filter attachment boss first, such an ugly feature, although less conspicuous than the bracket on the normal steel cover.

Cheers

Geoff
