A recent photo of the List number Plate from the Gearbox was found on the BBC - showed the list Number 27509 first fitted to DB18/1's then also fitted to Consorts', which given the reg Mark dating as mentioned earlier is just about right for a Consort. It'll be interesting to see if any more List Number plate images get posted in the fullness of time that might help determine a closer fit.

Daimler unearthed

Post by faeton »

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this , on our local BBC news which also covers the Channel Islands, there was a report of a car being unearthed. Someone was digging in their garden building a patio. They came across some parts of a buried car . From a plate they found this appears to be a Daimler . So far they have found a chassis . gearbox ,engine etc . there was a plate from the gearbox with nos on .
They are hoping to find something to be able to date remains. Anyone who is interested can remove. Google car unearthed in Guernsey shows photos. Dave

[This is the third topic about these rusty old remains :D Go there with a JCB and dig it up! John-B]

Taking a second look at the Guernsey car I now believe it to be DB18/1 or 2 and not Consort.
The number plate letters are of the Blumels illuminated type and not the type used on the Consort.

Wolverhampton reg. no. March 1949 - June 1950, so probably not a Consort.
Normal for Norfolk
