Here perhaps is a restoration project for someone to get stuck into, any members in Guernsey with time, energy and optimism? : http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-guernsey-43638944

Even in this desperate condition there may be some parts of value to members and/or owners. It would be interesting to hear if any members can get there to identify the model and help out with further excavation and possible reclamation of any solid parts still existing even if only for pattern purposes.

I've written to the BBC about the bit at the end of the article, about Daimler being connected with MB. Another of the Beeb's superficial understanding of history.

And the good news now- they've changed it !

This link https://www.daimler.com/company/traditi ... y-history/ is still there.

Why is it that the German Daimler company can use daimler.com as its internet address? It would be better if it used daimlerAG.com

I seem to remember reading somewhere that when one of the succession of owners of what used to be parts of BL (perhaps Ford?) sold the business that the Daimler name was reverted to the German company. I don't remember if it simply reverted or if it was sold back. As the sole owners of the name and owners of the domain name, they can use Daimler.com with impunity. The English branch of the name no longer exists except in history.

What category is the original posting under? I appreciate the link thank you for that, much prefer the dlcentre site when it was :-(
[Originally "In the news today" was posted in Chat and "Daimler found under rockery" was posted in Daimler forum, but neither place was quite applicable. Chat is for non-car related general chat while the first group of forums like Daimler are meant to be for technical questions or descriptions of how to do something technical. Since the two topics are about a wreck whose parts might be for sale I've moved both posts to Parts for sale. - John-B]
