Conquest Progress

Post by theoldman »

Is this the best place for this type of thing?

Thought I'd do an occasional "blog" on the progress on the Conquest.

Anyway, the ripping down of the paint is well in progress. One side, half the roof, half the bonnet and the boot will be ready for "remedial treatment" very soon now. Intend to hit the other side next week after a weekend of railway (Santa Specials!) duties.

Looks like an interesting project! That's a strange place to have a hole, what do you think caused that?

Neil,

Looks like you're off to a good start. Are the wings new? (No "Old Man Seam Bodge"?)

The hole at the bottom of roof a new filler hole for Bio fuel, this must be the Bio fuel Neil is making from seaweed hence the reason for moving.
Watch this space could be the end to high fuel prices , just needs more testing reports to follow and help from Dragons Den !!

Very funny Peter!!

Seriously, the hole in the back of the roof is a common DJ problem. Something to do with the fabric filler they used inside getting wet and rusting it from the inside out.

Been all over it (apart from the fibreglass bits) with 40 grit and today started machining with 80. Once that's done, I can start getting a skim of filler here and there (few dents in boot and roof) and tidy up the door bottoms - amazingly very little work required which is unusual.........................................and of course fix the "biofuel filler" hole in the roof

Oh, and need to get the wing/valance piping fitted.
