Isle of Man Members?

Post by BigJAK »

Hi,
Are there any IoM members? My Daimler Conquest Century was registered in IoM on 30th November 1956 and then re-registered in Belfast in 1971 but the IoM registration was not recorded.
I have asked the IoM Classic Car Museum for info but they couldn’t help, I asked the Vehicle Registration Office and they couldn’t help without a registration number; it was also suggested I try the Postal Authority but I haven’t heard back from them.
Is there anyway a local can check if a Daimler was registered on that date? A long shot I know.
Thanks in advance

The IoM in those days did not record chassis details only registrations and dates as I have a LD10 that was first registered in Glasgow then the IoM in 1954 but due to the info they held it was not sufficient to track what the original Glasgow plate was

Looking on the internet it seems the reg would have been in the format xMN nnn ( x excludes A I Q S Z). Have you tried writing to any recorded owners? You never know, old photos might reveal the reg. If you have a reg. no. I note there is an online enquiry available: no.https://services.gov.im/vehicles-drivin ... le-search/
Good luck, Ranald

There are no recorded owners, the only thing I now know is it was supplied by W. H. Shimmin, Isle of Man.

What sort of Isle of Man person was being targeted by advertising 0 to 60mph in 16.3 seconds?

TT fans? Teenage racers? Or middle aged doctors wanting to scare the wits out of their wife?

If you have the exact date of registration there is hope. You have to trawl through ledgers of handwritten records.
