Hi I've lost use of a garage and have come to the sad conclusion that I have to let my Dart go. The car has a genuine 44k on the clock, I bought it in 1998 after it had been laid up since 1977. I've got all of the invoices up to 1977, makes interesting reading! I restored the car in 1999, the car has not had much use during the last 5 years. The bodywork has deteriorated since losing my garage, there is micro blistering on most panels. Colour is cream/old english white. Chrome is fine for me, others might want to re-chrome. The engine runs fine, it's never been rebuilt. It's just had a new clutch. It's running on wire wheels. The interior is original apart from carpets. Colour is light tan. I've always bulked at a rack conversion, so original steering wheel and steering box are present. My thoughts are that the steering is tight after not being run for the past years. There is no hood or hard top - I don't think it ever had a hood. Unfortunately lack of garage and some hungry worms have ruined the wood in the dash. I'm not sure how best to tackle the sale. Respray and fix the dash up? Or offer as is - a very nice original running restoration. Where else will you find one with this mileage
Guess I'd be looking for circa 30k if the car was painted, is anyone interested taking the project as is?

I would advise against anything but a proper restoration job, most potential buyers will jib at what might appear a tart up to increase value and would much prefer to buy an unmolested car and carry out the restoration work them selves or employ a restoration specialist.
Without actually seeing the car, but from what you describe I suspect you might be a bit optimistic at £30k despite the low miles. Syd

It sounds enticing. The question is timing? Current economic crisis due to Covid19 would question its value.

I'll try and get some pics this weekend as looks to be dry. The car is far from a restoration job, if I was going to get paint done I'd spend the £5000 that I've been quoted - a proper job. Dash fix quoted £400. My thoughts are I'd like 30k if it was done, 28-30k looking at recent auctions etc. So as is I'd like circa 23k.

Thanks for the update and at that price you should find a buyer even in these difficult times.
I would still say don't paint, let someone else have the job done, a friend of mine just had an E type done recently by a very highly skilled and respected body man and they have had all sorts of unexpected issues with paint reaction, the body has now had to be stripped to bare metal. Syd

Hi, I don't think you have told us if the car is on the road with a current MOT etc. If it is not, I would get this done. This would give any future owner confidence as to the mechanical condition.
From what you have said I think you should get at least £20000 - £23000 and unless you are desperate, I would not let it go for any less.
I agree with Syd. Do not touch the bodywork.

Would now like to progress this sale - I'll try and get an MOT sorted in the next few weeks, but I've been happily driving it during the lockdown. Asking £24,000, I've got plenty more pics. Car is located near Hereford.
