Dave Philpot tells me that this car has just resurfaced after a couple of decades 'lost'.

Details give it as one previous owner must have spent all his time polishing the bulkhead , lovely car but a manual no fluid flywheel on this then.

The pictures on Car and Classic seem to show no gear lever on the floor and if it did have a manual gearbox, as the firm say, you would be right to wonder where it was from and how it had got there.

I had been sort of following another of this firms' cars, the Rover 16 that has been restored by them. It was on offer at £90,000 (I kid you not) when £14000 will buy a decent one and £20000 should be exceptional. It's now on at "P.O.A." but with an indicated £123,456 to make you want to pick up the phone.

So, where does that leave the Daimler ? On the face of it, £27,500 doesn't seem exactly out of the way for a decently powerful pre war cabriolet, but if they reckon it's worth £35,000 + when finished, rather than £40,000+, I wonder how they arrive at their pricing figures because they seem somewhat erratic. The Austin 18 looks pretty good value at £10,500. The Daimler would need seeing in the metal, and maybe more so in the wood frame, to know if it was super value or.......

Yes, Peter, it's fluid transmission, you can see the selector.

Problem with the dealers is that if they see three pedals they automatically say "manual" - excuse the pun.
