Conquest Century Drophead Coupe for Sale: Bonhams

Post by Peter Grant »

Hi Everyone,

Just saw this car listed:

http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/24125/lot/212/

The hood doesn't look as if it has been folded property.

Does anyone know this car?

Cheers

Perhaps the electric motor is not working?
Looks a nice car though

I heard somewhere years ago that this was the first car to have an electically operated hood. Is that correct?

Hi Stan,
The earliest Daimler that had an electric operating hood would have been the 1948 Green Goddess DHC made by Hoopers for Sir Bernard Docker.
Then there were the six Hooper bodied Empress DHC's from 1950 that also had the electrically operating hoods, including the lovely ex David and Marie Adcock car.
If you can get a copy of Great Marques Video featuring Daimler there is a good segment on that car, showing the hood operation.
Cheers
