Daimler Conquest PCY567

This Conquest was made in the first year of production in 1953.

It has a 2.5 straight six engine fitted with a Wilson pre-select gearbox.

It has done less than 40,000 miles.

Body

The car is in navy with a light blue/ silver top half.
It has had a respray some years ago and there are signs of micro-craking here and there on the silver paint.
There are some places where the navy paint has chiped off.
Overall, the outer body is in fair condition. The worst places are on the door bottoms on the passenger side.
The wings have some bubbling on the top, but are very solid underneath, so I think it is a result of the respray prep.
Underneath, the car is extremely solid. It has the original blue paint in many places with no rust (see pic).
Chorme is all fairly good.

Engine

The engine is smooth and strong. It pulls well and has a lovely quiet ticking sound.
The pre-select gearbox works well and selects all gears with no issues.
The original diff seized, so I had to buy a replacement conquest to take the good diff. I put a new seal on this and cleaned it up and it rolls freely with no issues.
When on longer runs, I have found that the engine can get too hot. I have flushed out the radiator, and the engine water chamber. As wll as this, I disconnected the heater which was rusty on the inside. This has improved the issue, but a long run with steep hills could prove to be an issue.
The bay all looks clean and tidy.
I had a patch welded onto the exhaust to fix a split on the box.

Electrics

All of the electrics seem to work fine. Lights all work apart from the fog lamps. The trafficators and horn are still are working.
The dials are functional, but the clock has stopped.

Interior

The interior seems very good for a car of 63 years old. The door cards and headlinings are all very good. The back seats are in good condition, but the front ones have a few tears and loose stitches. The carpets are very presentable. The dash is faded around either end where water has leaked in the corners over the years.
