It's come down from 60-odd thousand (aud) as previously advertised...

Hi Everyone,

As far as I know, and I am sure someone out there can correct me if I am wrong, this car was purchased by the Queensland State Government after it was declared surplus after the Royal Tour by the Commonwealth and used by the Queensland Governor until purchased by a funeral director who had the landaulet roof mechanism plated over and the car then was used as a funeral mourning car until purchased by Peter Berrill. Mr B had a carpet supply and laying business and had the car in his warehouse in Rockhampton in Queensland for many years where it was very useful as a rack for storing carpet rolls. Mr B tried to sell the car but prior to selling it sadly he died and now his son is selling it.
Emboldened by the money paid by the Australian National Museum for the sister car the expectation for the sale price was high but it has not sold.

I asked the Museum why this car was not chosen and the response was that it was not as original as the car purchased but apart from the plated over roof I can't see the difference, except perhaps it is in better condition than the car being restored.

Anyway it is a wonderful piece of automotive history and for someone who could tackle the restoration, wow!

Crikey. Cheeky offer?!
Makes me realise I’ll be spending the rest of my life restoring the pile of parts I purchased. On the upside, it will keep me out of harms when with swmbo ( she who must be obeyed)...

Darren,
These cars don't necessarily sell very quickly despite what we tragics may think!
Cheers
