Beat,

I'm not a club member any more, or the EL24 registrar, but as no-one seems to have taken over from me, you might be interested to know this is chassis 47985, registered 31 Dec 38 with Daimler's own limousine bodywork. It was formerly part of Geoffrey Watkins wedding fleet in Newport, and appears still to be in the white/blue livery he favoured for his cars. I don't think the whitewalls do it any favours (and they look a little undersized to me) but it generally seems in good order, and DEW Car Services are respected in the RR world. It was seen a while ago at a Silverstone Auction where it made £6900 and the current photos appear to be the same as those use then.

It also appears to have belonged to another wedding firm in Oxfordshire (perhaps it still does?).

£10-15K is quite ambitious I think, but it could be a canny buy for someone.

all the best

Mark

Good morning all,

The subject of wedding cars promts me to appeal to anyone who might know the fate of a 1931 Daimler 16/20 which once belonged to Colin Bromfield.

The reason I ask is that according to rumour, it was sold to a wedding car company (near Nuneaton?) and the part-dismantled sleeve valve engine was replaced, and according to a DVLA search, the reg number is still active.

The reason I ask is that there may be a thousand-to-one chance the remains of the engine could be lurking about somewhere, and would be invaluable for parts, plus as I'm tying to make up a set of sleeves for reconditioning by modern process, any assistance in my quest would be gratefully received.

So would anyone with any info make contact please?

Regards,

Stan Thomas.
