1964 2 1/2 litre saloon on ebay..

Post by tjt77 »

Browsing ebay UK today ( Feb 4th '19) reveals a remarkably nice '64 2 1/2 litre saloon for sale in Northern UK.. Black coachwork with red interior and equipped with some nice options. Stated to have had 3 owners , documented history and appprx 40,000 original miles.. everything looks to be correct about the car.. and nice registration number too.. clearly this is a car that has been very well cared for and is well preserved.. very hard to find them this nice. given the condition and history..the asking price seems to be more than fair .

This one I guess, looks tasty.

Though there has been another very nice black one with wire wheels with a silly starting price, which has been removed, no doubt our scam friends again, why don't fleabay sort these folks before they even get onto the listings.

Syd posted the actual listing (thank you), as regards the one on 'Trademe' in NZ.. probably a sound but most likely a tired car that has had lot of work done over the years .(interior typical of an older NZ refresh) . they tend to have a good survival rate there (as regards overall body structure) but do get well used and often repaired many times over..that one listed on trade me is fairly typical of those available in NZ..and almost certainly has a lot of 'unknowns' associated with a non original high mileage multiple owner car.. plus trying to buy from 'trademe' is tricky unless the phone number is posted on the listing .. and shipping from NZ to either USA or Europe is VERY costly.. However.. NZ is the place to find one with a super sound body structure..
if you look closely at the Black '64 on ebay UK it appears to be a very original low mileage car.. as such its one of those very rare finds and purchasing a not so nice car and attempting to bring it up to high standard and still be above water is rarely (if ever) viable.. highly original low mileage , long term ownership cars are extraordinarily rare . I recon that black '64 on ebay uk is the best buy Ive seen in a long time.. granted ..it will need some work according to description..the dash top obviously needs restoration (but may be best left 'as is'..its only original once) ..it will probably need fuel system and brakes fully gone through too.. but you'd be hard pressed to find a better example and the money being asked is very fair given what appears to be ..nice specs too.. has the power steering AND the Thornton 'powr-lok' diff.. Black with red interior was never a common combination and really suits the cars lines well.. Rare opportunity for someone who is awake.. If I were in Uk id jump at it..
