Is The Century one of those 'inbetween' models in 1957, and how can you tell if it is the MKii body with the extra rear legroom although it has the MkI dash

The pax side of the dash looks like it needs some work

Surely that estimate is a bit low. Good Morris/Austin vans are usually pushing 10K - 12K

I'd go for the Princess VP R
Andy

1954 Conquest Mk1, 1956 Conquest Mk2, 1957 Conquest Century Mk2, 1955 Austin A90 Westminster

I fully agree Andy, all part of the marketing strategy.

Low estimate attracts additional potential bidders / interested parties and that is what the auctioneers hope for.

Sir John Egan's DS420 limousine (lot 223 in this auction) was sold off by the JDHT in July 2009 and fetched GBP 14,000 plus 2,100 buyers premium, plus taxes. In the meantime it has been offered for sale many times, e.g. by an Italian seller asking 29,000. The estimate of 17,000 -25,000 more or less spans this entire range. The low figure is not unrealistic; the high figure is. But here it is offered without reserve; could be a real bargain and sell between 5,000 and 10,000.

An interesting detail is that the division wall between driver and passengers was left out. The division is not a structural part of the car. A few years earlier the French distributor had already ordered a small batch of cars without the division, which probably inspired this particular car's design.

The auction house uses the designation "Office Car', which is repeated by the first poster here-above. But "the" office car was a 1984 limousine equipped with two personal computers, computer display, printer, mobile telephone, etc., so it was not this 1987 one. Egan's limousine does not have any office equipment, apart from the mobile telephone.
