1947 Daimler DB18 KKJ 333 - Royal history

Looks very interesting. I happened to open a 2010 copy of Driving Member and there was a full article on it by Jim Bain, who rescued it. And in the same magazine a photo spread on my own car, 2 years before I owned it. I call this Providence, and say I should buy the car (it isn't far from me either) but my wife says it is senility and I should desist. Views on a postcard please!!

Interesting history but that sort of money would buy you the best in the country.
A £12,000 premium for a connection to a dubious Royal?

Graham, I agree, as does my wife. I don't think Queen Marie was all that dubious though. It is a huge price for a car in less than top condition. At £8-10K I might be persuaded. It sold at auction in 2017, but I can't find out the selling price.

If you've got the money spare and the space, then get it. Even at £7k to £10k, if you had to sell it later, you're likely to make a loss (though not as much of a loss as £17k obviously). These cars are not investments, they don't go up in value, they go down, albeit more slowly than a new car of the same price. As has been said elsewhere on this forum, most pre-60s cars are in a diminishing market.

I hope the current owner is reading this thread, he may see fit to revise his price.

I'm with Graham on this one.

Confucious he say, all that glitters is not gold.
