Reg PPG 124 will be good to see what it is at end of auction, not many seem to get sold at auction and make a fair price.

Not sold at auction. But possibility of sale afterwards (with auctioneer at moment).

I wonder if the fitted heather put people off, maybe in case it burst into Andy Stewart or Will Fyfe. Or maybe it was the cruciform braced brakes.
Seriously, with descriptions as badly written as that, who would even bother turning up.

Simon,
Probably won't help that it has a "Gear change pedal instead of clutch pedal."

Would have been good to see it reach a decent price what has happened to increased values, these are better cars then the prices they seem to make.
Hope someone will give it a home.

Well spotted Simon. Seriously the auction reported that there had been great interest shown in the LD10 by the general public attending the viewing and the sale itself. Apparently LD10s are now so unusual due to their post WWII American shape -the Barker body in particular - that they attract the general public to ask the owner what make of car is it. If anything puts potential buyers off is that it has a epicyclic pre-selective gearbox. Unfortunately few people today know how to drive a car fitted with such an arrangement resulting in LD10s being in a niche market category. It would be interesting to have market research carried out to substantiate this. When such cars are tested and reported in classic car publications the epicyclic system is mentioned and commented on remarking that the system needs an experienced driver.

Yes, it's strange, that Pre-selector Gearbox's get such bad publicity, probably not helped by those idiot's on Top Gear some time ago!
Having driven my Lanchester for nearly 35 years, I find it an absolute delight to drive, much better than having to double de- clutch every time one needed to change gear.
People are quite surprised when I explain how easy it is, and how smooth it is in operation.

Cheers A'l :D

Hello Graham
I cannot recall you making an offer. I have no record of when or how it was made. Was it to the auctioneer? Please explain. Thanks
