Post by watkindj »

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rare-Classic ... 3587517732

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/lanchester-ld10/264433093236

both cars above did not meet reserve

now one is listed here
https://www.gumtree.com/p/other-cars/la ... 1350517906

and the other here

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283597521959 ... 3597521959

what does anyone think when you could get this one for a little more than the gumtree one

https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1136687

Which I think as have been tracking sales for the last 10 years very reasonable

Rob, our friends from the north have a saying "there is none as queer as folks" pre war car prices prove that is very true, but it does not stop there. This morning in a supermarket a large tin of salmon was £2.70 on offer, the same brand same quality small one, not on offer was £2.90. A lady in front of me took a small one down and I pointed out the difference, she looked at me as if I was daft and said I only need a small one.

Old cars seem to be particularly prone to odd values, as your comparisons show, barn finds seem to pitch way above realistic value. It beggars belief folks pay £2,000 and spend £3,000 to restore, when an on the road tidy one is £4,000.
