SP250 - Help with good body shop

Post by Magnor »

I have my SP250 body off and on a 'dolly' ready for minor restoration and then painting (after refitting to chassis). Can anyone recommend a good body shop anywhere near Tiverton, Devon that has experience of 60's GRP. I am having real problems finding someone who knows what they are doing at a sensible price. I have only one quote which was over 10k !!!

You might try a good boatbuilder/restorer. I needed a part made for a kit car in grp and a local boatbuilder made one at very reasonable cost. He said he was increasingly getting interest from old car owners.

I would recommend that you get the body pained on the chassis as it’s a right pain to get it shimmed up correctly and get the door gaps right –

Hi, I am currently having my SP 250 body restored at Bristol Classic & Sports car, they are based near Clevedon in Somerset. They specialise in restoring Jaguar E type, XK 120 and XK 150 marques to the highest standards. Therefore I entrusted them to attend to my body shell which had severe micro blistering. I have yet to visit to check on progress.

Bristol Classic & Sports car, 01275342999, speak to John or Paul.
