I guess it's not a question of climate or whatever. It's more to choose the right workshop for fitting the thing.

I fitted a Pertronix ignition system on my SP250.
It worked well for just over a year and then it stopped working.
I bought a new one and that one is still working.
I suspect that it stopped working because I did not fit non-metallic ignition leads. (Which Pertronix recommend)
I also had a problem with the electronic thermostat which controls the electric fan. I worked out that this was due to strong RF signals.
I fitted non-metallic leads and the thermostat problem disappeared. I do carry a spare (tried and tested) Pertronix system which I managed to acquire. I was lucky when it packed up the first time, only a couple of miles from home. But now that I know that they can stop working feel I have to carry a back up.
The leads required a new distributor cap.
All expensive
The Pertronix ignition cost me £181.28 on Ebay (including shipping and customs) and the leads and D cap cost £208.80 from Autocar Electrical Equipment Co. Ltd.
My car is parked in a lean-to. The temperature was below freezing this morning. I have not started it for three weeks, it is fitted with a trickle charger. I decided to see how easy it would be to start. It started without any hesitation whatsoever.
Despite all the problems and expense I have had I would still recommend electronic ignition.
