If you're in Essex, try contacting Robert Grinter. He has a contact who rebuilt my V8 250 gearbox a few years ago & I am very happy with the rebuild.
Best wishes, Dave B

G Whitehouse autos can also supply a Jaguar XJ40 automatic 4 speed overdrive gearbox with fitting kit for the V8250 saloon, with the benefits of a more modern transmission. Worth a look at their website.

Cheers

If an XJ 40 gearbox conversion is available , Id definitely take that route.. the box utilised is the ZF 4HP 22 ..its a VERY good unit and used n many applications.. I had one in my last range rover.. +/-230,000 miles and a lot of towing with zero issues with the gearbox ( electrical problems finally caused me to park the rover for good some 8 yrs ago though)
since I'm on this side of the big pond Im going with a borg warner 200R4 overdrive auto box in the Daimler.. I have all the adapters to fit to engine.. but not the rear mount, which will have to be fabricated along with correcting speedo drive ratio and new front propshaft.
