Post by Richard Margetts »

i asked about this some time ago - but with the new web site cannot seem to find the responses I got.
I am about to repaint my Dart - and wonder if anyone has the colour code for Royal Red - thanks for anyone's response.

Seems like the name "royal red" is applied to more than just one code. Here's a link that might be helpful:

That is a US colour code, try looking up Burgundy in UK sites I' not sure if the original was metallic or flat, metallic really looks great on an SP
Owner since the 70's, Genghis is slightly to my left.

Never came across 'Royal red'. but 'regency red' is a common jaguar/daimler colour form the 1960's and most specialist paint suppliers should have the mixing formula/code. the description was later changed to 'regency maroon', although its clearly closer to 'red' than any 'maroon' which is considered a far darker colour. My ex NL market car was originally regency red.. but I changed it to black over dark maroon during the restoration and am very pleased with the result..

Thanks Brooksy (and Laurence)- I think that was the post to my earlier request I couldn't find on the old forum.
