I have taken off the distributor and found that the shaft is indeed bent...looking at the setup it looks to have been put on the wrong way and I think this has caused the shaft to bend.

I had a spare 20D8 distributor but the engine speed indicator drive gear was slightly different. I have tapped the pin out and swapped them over. Interestingly the distributor would not fit back in the same way and I have had to rotate 180 degrees.

I will swap the HT leads over tomorrow and see if she will start up ok.

Unscrew the the top section, replace it 180 deg back into the advance drive dogs and youve got it. leave the leads as they are.
