Brake drag on SP250 *Help needed*

Post by Reedweaver »

I have just replaced my brake master cylinder with one of these, 3/4" bore universal type.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bearmach-Uni ... 2749.l2649

I now have a lot of brake drag (and hot discs!). I have made sure that the push rod length was identical.

The car has undergone all new caliper pistons and seals and new DOT4 brake fluid. Greenstuff pads fitted all round, I rebuilt the calipers using the right lube for the pistons and made sure the pads slide etc.

When I take the top off the brake fluid reservoir, I can usually push the brake pedal down but this is not the case now.

If I undo a front caliper bleed screw the brakes release and I can spin the wheel.

Is the master cylinder faulty? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Yes that was it! Many thanks..

I hadnt realised that i had pushed the push rod in a little when attatching to the brake pedal. It must have been 1/4" max, I guess with the new calipers and pads etc thats all it took.

I had to get the dremel out as well to cut a little off the thread...that wasnt fun on a hot day like this...

I have to say I am impressed with the greenstuff pads, I may put the old ones back on to see what the difference really is... Maybe at the end of the summer..
