Return springs

Post by Crossley Stephenson »

I'm thinking I may need to replace the 3 return springs on the carbs of my V8 250. After 50 years they may have succumbed to Hooke's Law. I can find the main return spring in both my Parts Catalogue and the Manners website but I can find no reference to the two springs that ensure the butterflies close. Can anyone help with part numbers and suggestions of where to purchase same?

Cheers
Michael

the Moss motors part # 370-335 works well in the daimler V8 application .. this is the throttle return spring for MGB and MG midget..
If you like a firm throttle with strong return, its also possible to fit the coil type spring as an addition on each carb... as used on MGA and early big healey with SU H4 carbs.. this fits on the actual throttle shaft and requires the accompanying hardware..( spring, 2 stop brackets, one small bolt and nut per carb) this arrangement put less wear on throttle shafts, but is several times the cost of 2 normal return springs.
