Laycock/ Transmission parts

Post by JSabah »

I am looking for a main output shaft so that I can keep my car on the road while OD Spares modifies the shaft for my Laycock J type OD (They now require a doner /core before they will start). Being in the states, that may add up to a lot of time. Also, As my OD unit came from a Volvo, I am in need of the adapter. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks, Josh

Josh.. I have access to a TR3 overdrive box.. condition unknown.. its apporx 60miles form me and seller was asking $400 last time I checked.. I'm heading to LA and further south next week so could drop it off en route.. more locally there is a std TR3 box ( 25 miles away.. he MAY sell it.. that would provide your mainshaft ..will be seeing him in the next couple of days.. its Weds Oct 24th as i send this ) alternatively you could check with "Penta Motorsports' in San Fernando valley ..they have SP 250s and other daimlers and carry extra parts.. Steve would be the person to ask there.. Tim (530 913 4920)

Hi Tim and thanks for the post. I already have the OD box which has the 27% reduction which I think I will like mated to my 4.11 rear end (from an Austin Healey). I think the TR ODs are most likely 22%. Unfortunately in order to get the 27% i. Purchased a box that came from a Volvo and did realize that the adapter plate (section) is different. So all I need is the correct adapt. I found a place in the UK that has them, just looking a bit closer to home. As for the shaft, I could take mine out and send it off (th the same place) to have it modified but then my car would be out of commission for a longer time - so I thought I would see if I could find a shaft cheap enough and have it sent out, then swap and add the OD all at once. I actually found one and it was mailed out today.
Thanks,
Josh
