V8-250 Saloon - Fuel Pipe Internal Diameter

Post by classiclife »

Hello.

I want to replace the fuel hose that goes from the filter housing and also the piece that joins the 2x carbs. I am convinced the clear plastic hose (now coloured yellow) is that originally fitted to the car fifty years ago !!

Not having the car to hand at the moment, I am hoping that someone may know the hose internal diameter specification.

Additionally, is the link hose between the 2x carbs a slightly smaller ID than that of the hose from the fuel filter - or am I imagining That ??? !!!!

The hose is to be replaced with R9 specification.

If you can assist, I will be very grateful.

Many thanks.

Richard.

Memory tells me it is 5/16ths” from the filter and 1/4” across the carbs.
Personally I would not use the braided stuff. It usually is not E10 comparable and it looks cheap when fixed with pipe clips rather than the proper crimped fittings.
Colin,
I may be slow but I’m rough as well !

Moss Europe currently have their winter sale on and are basically selling their Gates Barricade ethanol proof fuel hose at nearly half price PER METRE.

I have ordered 1/4" and 5/16" direct from their website, but did find their eBay listing was slightly cheaper for the same product and requirement, albeit by about 75p.

In these days of ethanol related fuel, Gates Barricade or proper R9 (such as CODAN) flexible fuel lines really are a must.
