Sump seals SP250

Post by Warsash 2 »

Hi
We are about to fit the sump and wonder if anyone can tell me what the length of the end seals should be. I have both cork and silicon seals the later from DMG were said to be cut to length. On reflection i am not sure if that was they are the right length or need cutting to length. Any thoughts would be welcome.
Regards

Colin

They are too long and will need to be cut.
I found that placing the seal in the sump and cutting to length was a start point. Then when I offered the sump into position it was too tight. Eventually through a couple of goes the correct length was achieved. Due to the seal compressing it expands in length. It is much easier done with the engine upside down in a cradle. I suppose it is classed in old terms as a fitters job rather than an assembly job.
Colin,
I may be slow but I’m rough as well !
